To the editor:

I am sending this message in response to Ron Barnard’s recent editorial letter called ‘Wood burners’ in which he lambasts people who use wood and pellet burning stoves and fireplaces. It troubles me that more and more that people in our corner of the world are being swayed by bad information such as someone’s opinion that burning wood (which we as a species have done for countless millennia) is bad for us or the Earth.

Decided that I should revamp my site after the election.  It`s a work in progress, which is where it will probably stay for the time being until I`m finished working on some other, more important projects.

Last nights all-candidates forum at the Ramada was a great opportunity for many of the paid on-call / volunteer firefighters in Kelowna to come out and meet all of the candidates that did attend. Thankfully the speeches were short and sweet (for the most part) which gave everyone there enough time to mingle with various candidates and provide feedback on what type of issues were most important for them.

The question was:

How do you align with the "Occupy Movement", and how will you be effective in supporting "the many" not "the few.

This has been a hot topic of debate that is on a lot of people's minds right now, especially in Canada. We are seeing some potentially explosive scenarios right now, including an alignment with (or infiltration by) the supposed hacking organization "Anonymous".

In 2008, the “Major Lakes Recreational Marine Facilities Study” was published.  In it, there are a number of recommendations that were made with regard to governance, service delivery, economic impact and sustainable facility development.  Which of these recommendations, if any, do you see as a priority for the next 5 years and, if elected, what will you do to act on them?

1. If you had questions regarding arts and culture in our community which organization(s) would you go to for input and expertise?

There are many groups and organizations within Kelowna and the Okanagan region that I will draw on for their knowledge, expertise and influence in regards to all arts and cultural events.  Besides the obvious ones being all of the Arts Councils in the Okanagan, surrounding regions and the rest of the province, I will also work diligently with the following (in no particular order and not limited to):

Do you believe increased funding for public transit is a priority? If so, would you work to put pressure on the provincial and federal governments to increase funding for transit infrastructure and quality across the province? What would you do to help improve transit in Kelowna?
